The Thrive125 Arts Project

The project will celebrate the beautiful minds and creative people who have something to say about Utah through their visual art. This project encourages a contemporary interpretation of the 125 year anniversary of Utah Statehood.

Participation

Artists are asked to submit a Statement of Interest in creating new work related to this project and sample images of previous work by May 14th.

Artists may also submit existing work if they feel it fits into this project’s intent of exploring this anniversary. This Statement of Interest may include why you are interested in the project,conceptual ideas for a new work, or explanations of how existing work proposed responds to this project. 

A minimum of ten artists will be selected from the applications. Selected artists will be invited to create work based on their statement of interest, past work samples, or the proposed existing works. All selected artists will be paid $3,000 in exchange for a high-quality digital image of the artwork and the unrestricted use of the image by DHA in the promotion and celebration of Thrive 125 and the Utah arts community.  All of the digital images accepted will become part of the archive of the State’s marking of this anniversary. The artist will retain the work and the copyright, with the aforementioned usage rights granted to the Department of Heritage and Arts as an agency of the State of Utah. This project is for artists 18 and older.

Up to $20,000 has been made available for the purchase of one or more of the selected works for this project as a legacy marking this anniversary.

Submission Details

Artworks may be in any visual medium and in any style. 

Up to 10 images or video files may be submitted. Please size at approx. 1500 pixels on the largest side for still images and .mov sampling no longer than 2 minutes. Entries cannot exceed 400MB per file / 800MB total.
